The city's skyline is a mix of grandiose architecture and magical enchantments, with Rinna University of the Bardic Arts (RUBA for short) standing as a beacon of artistic achievement. Then there's the Apex Arena, a coliseum of athletic prowess where the best of the best compete for glory. If you're from here, you've grown up in a world where fame and fortune are just a spell or a performance away.
But it's not all glitz and glamour. Appletun has its dark corners, too. The city's rapid growth has attracted not just the talented and the wealthy, but also the desperate and the devious. Drugs, crime, and other vices lurk in the shadows, and the tent city of refugees from a nearby town wiped out by a tsunami outside the city walls serves as a constant reminder of the world's harsh realities. If you hail from Appletun, you might have a complex relationship with these issues, perhaps even a personal stake in the fate of the refugees.
Now, let's talk sports, shall we? In Eventyr, sports teams are a big deal, a blend of fantasy football and the Olympics. Teams are sponsored by wealthy families and nobility and consist of athletes excelling in various disciplines like gymnastics, wrestling, and running. These teams are often managed by professionals, like Xander Evans, owner of the Apex Arena and the Apex Predators team. Athletes usually live and train at team headquarters, receiving room, board, and equipment but not much in the way of direct payment. Instead, they make their coin through appearances at taverns and special events. If you're from Appletun, you might have grown up idolizing these athletes, or perhaps you're an aspiring athlete yourself, aiming for a spot on a prestigious team.
The city is also home to a host of colorful characters. From Morganna Corym-Sorrowfell, the uber-wealthy philanthropist, to her husband Mordai, the scandalous Mayor, and even Chef Goytard, the psychedelic culinary artist—each person adds a unique flavor to Appletun's rich tapestry. If you're a native, you might have crossed paths with some of these individuals, or maybe you're related to one, for better or worse.
So, if you're thinking of making Appletun your character's hometown, know that it's a place of endless possibilities and stark contrasts. Whether you're an aspiring bard, a hopeful athlete, or someone looking to make a difference in the lives of the less fortunate, Appletun offers a stage for all kinds of stories. Just remember, every rose has its thorns, and in a city this vibrant, you're bound to get pricked sooner or later.
